Our Engagement Process

If you’re retired—or close to it—our complimentary process will help you confidently answer three
critical questions:

1. Will I outlast my money in retirement?
2. Will I be paying more in taxes?
3. Is my portfolio designed to meet my retirement goal?

You’ll receive a personalized Retirement Roadmap, documenting answers to these questions (and
others on your mind) in plain English. For those who are a good fit for our firm, there is no cost or
obligation. We want you to know exactly how we can help before you pay us a single dollar in fees or
entrust us with your nest egg.

Step 1 – Initial 15-Minute Phone Call
A short call to make sure your situation matches our expertise. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll
gladly introduce you to someone better suited to your needs.

Step 2 – First Office/Virtual Meeting
“A plan without evaluation, diagnosis and a plan to action is a broken plan.” We’ll do a deep dive and
get crystal clear on your goals, concerns, and financial situation. The information and documents you
provide will guide our analysis.

Step 3 – Our Analysis
This is where the magic happens. Leveraging decades of experience and industry training, we’ll
answer:

1. Can you afford to retire (or stay retired) and Am I paying more in taxes?
2. Can your portfolio be improved?
3. Can we reduce risks and threats to your retirement?

Step 4 – Second Meeting (Presentation)
We’ll present, in plain English and with real numbers, exactly what you need to do to achieve your
goals. You’ll see where and how we can improve your finances. At this point, you decide whether to
move forward—or take time to think about it.

Step 5 – Need A Day To Think It Over
There’s no pressure. We’ve been in business for more than 20 years—we’re not in a rush. Before deciding, ask yourself:

1. Do I like, trust, and respect the Athenian team?
2. Will the benefits exceed the cost?
3. Do I understand and agree with their investment philosophy?
4. Do their recommendations make sense to me?

Step 6 – Becoming a Client
If you’re ready, we’ll answer all remaining questions and begin the new client engagement
paperwork. You’ll also receive a detailed explanation of the process ahead. If you decide it’s not
the right fit, we’ll wish you every success—without a hard sell.
